21st Century COE of Flow Dynamics - F2003 International Internship Program Achievement Report

I am a Phd Italian student graduated in mechanical engeeniring last year. I was in Japan from 07/01/2004 to 31/03/2004 thanks COE internship program. My accepting supervisor in Tohoku University has been Prof. Shigeru Obayashi. In Tohoku University I made some computational experiments about Robust Design and I took part of some conferences and discussions about the main topics of my reaserch. Tohoku University is in the forefront in my field, moreover great computational resources are available, but I particularly appreciate the fact there are a lot of information exchanges with other universities.

During my stay in Japan I could visit not only Sendai, but Matsushima, Kyoto, Sapporo and Kitakata too. I think the internship program is a great opportunity for every student, I hope it will go on for a long time.

About my impressions of Sendai and Japan during my stay I have been very impressed by kindness and helpful of Japanese people, so, even if our culture is very different, I enjoyed my stay there a lot.
