Hello. This is Takeda.
I attended 19th International Symposium on Transport Phenomena in Iceland from Aug 17th to Aug. 23rd.I could have communication with many kind of researchers and professors, so it was very good experience for me.

Although fine day is rare in Iceland, it had been very good weather for two days during our stay, so we were very happy. Temperature is very low comparing to Japanese summer, and some people walking in town had mufflers on. The population of the capital city of Iceland, Reykjavik, was very small city, the population of which is about 100 thousands. But 1/3 of Iceland’s people live in Reykjavik, so it is very big city comparing other places in Iceland.

We visited geothermal plant by excursion. More than 50% of electric energy is made from geothermal energy, so the Reykjavik is known as the cleanest city in the world. Hot spring water is also used for hot water from taps and it has good sulfurous smell.

We went to hot spring, Blue Lagoon, with professors from other universities on the last day in Iceland. The hot water has very beautiful blue color and it was very comfortable.
