Heat Tranfer Symposuim

On May 30th I attended the National Heat Transfer Symposium (NHTS) in Toyama. A year has passed since I last presented at this conference. The NHTS is a very important conference for Maruyama-Lab, since our lab is specialized in the field of Heat Transfer. This time, Gonome-san, Adel-san, Okajima-san and me attended the conference. It was the first time for me to present about my latest research topic “Instability of Natural Convection inside Enclosures”. Furthermore, I have been studying and researching this in English so I was a little bit worried about the presentation and discussion, which were to take place in Japanese. The results that I presented were some of my first results in the PhD, and the summary of my research during my 6-month stay in Ecole Centrale de Lyon, France. But it wasn’t only me who was nervous. Gonome-san was going to participate in the Best Presentation Award session and Adel-san was going to make his first oral presentation ever at a conference. So the three of us were both excited and nervous. Fortunately, all of us had a nice presentation and discussion and were very satisfied with the results. After the conference we decided to relax. We did some sightseeing and at local food. I ate for the first time “firefly squid”. I don’t like squid that much (specially the raw or dried one), but this one was delicious. I even had it for breakfast at the hotel. We also did some sightseeing at Toyama Castle, which was just in front of the conference venue. Toyoma was a great experience, both scientifically and gastronomically.
