Hello, this is Kawai.
The pet bottle rocket class held at Wakabayashi elementary school on Oct. 18.

Today’s students were 5th grade children.
At first, we lecture about “Why airplanes can go in sky?” We explained the low with toy balloon and human powered rocket model. In this class, I and Mr. Nakamura acted as “fuel” of rocket model. And then, we gave a demonstration of that a center of balance and stabilizer are how important for flight performance. I hope they wonder at that weight and stabilizer increases total weight or air drag but they provide good performance for airplane.

After lecture, we started making rocket. Students were praying their rocket will fly gracefully in making it. Then, there were their satisfying work to be particular about not only wing form but also color and decorations. At finally, write owner name and go launcher to leady for takeoff.

The weather was cloudy. Fortunately, it was not rainy. 7 Rockets were launched at same time. Students performed all process from pouring compressed air into rocket to operating launcher switch. After count down, Launching rockets were very powerful and impressive. Other students watched it with cheering.

I hope today’s experience become an opportunity they will interest in making things and they will become the new challenger to technology.
