The First Pacific Rim Thermal Engineering Conference (PRTEC 2016)

This is Lin Chen.

With Prof. Maruyama and Guillaume, we attended a gfar-awayh conference PRTEC-2016 in Hawaii big island from March 13th to 17th. Dr. Gonome joined us from Tokyo with a similar 19 hoursf time difference. Prof. Komiya joined us later and we did good job both in the conference and the seaside.

The PRTEC-2016 (First Pacific Rim Thermal Engineering Conference) is a big gathering of professional in thermal engineering field, which has more than 400 papers published in five days. In particular, multi-disciplinary topics are presented and discussed, such as thermal effects and energy efficiencies, multi-scale problems in heating and cooling, micro-to-nano scale thermal sciences, etc.
Guillaume made a nice presentation on Methane Hydrate production on the second day of this conference.

The conference site, big island of Hawaii, is known as an island of both fire and ice, where the land and sea meet in the earthfs greatest epic battle. When we made a travel with Prof. Maruyama, we found nothing but volcanic remains near the coast regions, which made one to think again about the meaning of beings for this island.
However, the big island is not only rocks. When we went into the Kilauea Mountain, not general mountains but volcanoes inside the National Park, the scenery became much different with vivid bird singing near the beautiful volcano caves. Also, it was nice memory to have visited the volcano fog sites and watched the routes along which volcano extrusive flows from volcano center to the seaside.

Guillaume had a single word for Hawaii: It is just marvelous here!
