Gyoza Party

Hey, this is Christa, internship student from Switzerland.

On 23th November we held a Gyoza party at Professor Maruyama's house. Gyozas are Chinese dumplings. They consist of minced meat and/or vegetables wrapped into a piece of dough.

Our Gyoza specialist was Hou-kun. Everybody followed his instructions. We were working in two groups; one group prepared the dough and the others cut the vegetables and the meat. I tried myself in cutting carrots. After the first difficulties, I managed to cut the carrots in sufficient small pieces (without wounding my fingers!):.

Next, we mixed the different fillings and rolled the dough pieces to the right size and thickness. Then we could fill and boil the dumplings. Everyone made a great job, so, soon we could taste the first Gyozas. They were just "oishii"!!

We prepared many different kinds of Gyoza; with meat, shrimp, egg, and vegetable. We also regarded the vegetarian and halal people attended. So we had a lot of vegetarian dumplings. They all tasted great!

We would like to thank Professor Maruyama for his invitation and Hou-kun for his competent instructions. We all enjoyed preparing and eating Gyoza together!

It was also a great experience for me and I'll try to make Gyoza in Switzerland once…
