Tohoku University has been participating in the Boeing Higher Education Program, a global educational program operated by The Boeing Company, USA, to develop outstanding researchers and engineers who will lead the world in the future.

As part of the Boeing Externship Program, students from Tohoku University, the University of Tokyo, Nagoya University, Kanazawa Institute of Technology, Kyushu University, Hokkaido University, Muroran Institute of Technology, Tokyo Metropolitan University, Gifu University, Chubu University, Osaka Metropolitan University, and Kurume Institute of Technology have taken lectures in English online from the lecturers from The Boeing Company and Boeing Japan, and each university conducts its own project related to aerospace.

Boeing University Externship Summer Seminar, which has been held annually as a wrap-up seminar, was held on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Nagoya University, with 163 students from 12 universities participating.
Tohoku University team made a presentation titled \u201cJapan-WIDE Sustainable Aviation Fuel and its Infrastructure Development\u201d and won the first prize for their effort and proposal on sustainable aviation fuel.
