Thermal radiation at nano/microscale could be very different from the prediction by the traditional thermal radiationtheory. Radiative heat transfer can be greatly enhanced at nanometer distances due to near-field effects. Such enhancement holds promise from nanothermal manufacturing to microscale thermophotovoltaic devices. Furthermore, radiative properties can be tailored both spectrally and directionally using 1-D, 2-D, and 3-D micro/nanostructures. The practical applications include biomedical sensors, imaging below the diffraction limit, nanolighography, and local heating. This workshop will bring together experts and researchers from around the world for openly exchange of research ideas, recent findings and discoveries, and futrue outlooks in Nano and Micro Thermal Radiation. This event will also expand international collaboration and promote joint efforts in this multidisciplinary area.
