Purpose

It has passed about 15 years since basic and applied research by numerical fluid dynamics using the blood vessel shape extracted from the medical image of the affected area began based on the hypothesis that blood flow is involved in the pathology of the cerebral aneurysm. Today, it is in the middle of basic research applying to clinical research and trials, furthermore it is expected to develop as a next generation medical device / technology using numerical fluid dynamics.
In the first place, numerical fluid dynamics is merely a technique for outputting blood flow information from a medical image. To maximize its effect, it is indispensable to establish an academic foundation for interpreting blood flow information and to continuously develop it. At this very time that calculation software became recognized as a medical device and basic research is being applied, it is necessary to systematically organize the results of basic research and to raise the state to be able to utilize the academic knowledge so far.


Subjects

(1)   Can we predict the incidence of cerebral aneurysms, and what is needed for that?
(2)   Can we predict the increase of cerebral aneurysms, and what is needed for that?
(3)   Can we predict the rupture of cerebral aneurysms, and what is needed for that?
(4)   When using CFD in clinical practice, analysis in pulsatile flow is essential?
(5)   When using CFD in clinical practice, how far is patient information necessary?
