ELyTWorkShop in Lyon

Hello this is Marianne, D1 student

From 16th to 18th of November, the ELyTWorkshop was held In Lyon, in both INSA Lyon and Ecole Central de Lyon schools. The purpose of this event was to bring the ELyTGlobal members together in order to share and discuss their research projects and results.

On the 16th of October, the morning session was dedicated to the Doctor Honoris Causa for Professor Toshiyuki TAKAGI. The event was held in presence of Frederic FOTIADU, president of INSA Lyon, Gabriele FIONI, Deputy Rector for Higher Education, Research and Innovation of the Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes academic region, the head of the consular Office of Japan in Lyon, consul Kenji KURATOMI, the President of COMUE Universite de Lyon, Frank Debouck and Marie-Christine BAIETTO, Vice-President of Research and Development in INSA Lyon. After speeches and presentation from each of those persons, Professor Toshiyuki TAKAGI gave a presentation about his research projects and results.

After the ceremony of Doctor Honoris Causa, a roundtable was held about the expatriation to and from Japan. Five people were part of it, three researchers from Tohoku University (Professor Atsuki KOMIYA, Assistant professor Hiroki KURITA, and Double degree PhD Student Yutaro KOHATA) and two people from France (M. Eric FILIPPI and M. Florian LE COZ). They discussed about their experiences in expatriation and the opportunities it gave them.

Then the ELyTWorkshop was opened for the rest of the 3 days event. Each half day started with invited talks. Then ELyTglobal researchers presented their works and advances. There was also a round table for double degree PhD students to explain the different aspects of doing a double degree between Lyon and Tohoku University and to share and the advantages of doing this cursus. Also, in parallel of the workshop an ELyTschool was held for master student, both from Lyon and Tohoku, to discover the activities and labs of the ELyTGlobal network.

On the 17th evening, a dinner on the boat Hermes II was organized, to brought together all the researchers and student present. The dinner cruise took place on the Rhone and Saone and was about 2 hours long.

These 3 days event was really interesting and allowed us to understand more the different topic which are worked on in the ElyTGlobal network. Also, the dinner on the boat was really nice and seeing all the beautiful landscapes of Lyon was really amazing. We really hope this event could bring all the ELyTGlobal members even closer and help to develop partnerships and projects in between Lyon and Tohoku

Thank you!
