ELyT Workshop 2024

From 11th to 13th of March 2024, the ELyT Workshop 2024 was held. The first day was spend in Sendai and the two next day were in Kaminoyama, Yamagata prefecture.

During the first day, on Katahira campus, at the TOKYO ELECTRON House of Creativity, we listened to 6 invited talks of 1 hour each and then a few 15 minutes presentations were held. Next day, the departure for Kaminoyama was at 7:50. I honestly thought it was such an early departure time. After, an hour and a half long trip, we finally arrived at Tsukioka Hotel in Kaminoyama. At 10:00, the 15 minutes presentations started until lunch, where we got really nice bento box, it was really good. Then the presentations resumed for the afternoon, until 19:00. Taisei Takagi did a really good presentation during the afternoon. After that we had a networking dinner, the food was so delicious. We were then finally able to rest and spend time in the really nice “ryokan” style hotel rooms. The hotel was really nice and there was also a wonderful onsen that we could enjoy.

On the last day, there was presentations. Komiya-sensei and Gael-sensei were the first one to do their presentations, it was really great. Then later in the morning I presented my work, I was so nervous at first but I did not have too difficult questions to answer so I felt relieved. Finally, the last presentation of the workshop was made by Ishii Shun, it was a really nice presentation. The afternoon was dedicated to some sightseeing, we were able to visit Kaminoyama Castle. There is, in fact, a small museum on the inside, it was a nice visit. Also, the view from the top was breath-taking, we were able to see the whole city, I found it wonderful. After the visit, we took the bus to get back to Sendai station and Katahira Campus.

This was a good workshop, I learned a lot. However, it was really dense and a lot of topics were presented, it felt a little bit overwhelming and tiring. I still enjoyed the ELyT Workshop a lot and was really happy to be able to take part in it. Next year, ELyT Workshop 2025 should be held in February in France, I hope many students will be able to go and enjoy it.
