International workshop "Modeling and Simulation of Semiconductor Nanostructures and Energy Nano-Devices" held
On July 25, Professor Oleksandr Voskoboynikov of National Chiao Tung University, Professor Juin J. Liou of the University of Central Florida, and Dr. Blanka Magyari-Kope (PhD) of Stanford University were invited to hold an international workshop on "Modeling and Simulation of Semiconductor Nanostructures and Energy Nano-Devices" at the Institute of Fluid Science. The guests gave impassioned lectures. Professor Voskoboynikov's lecture was entitled "Physics, Modeling and Simulation of the Optical Response of Layers of Semiconductor Nano-Objects." Professor Liou's lecture was on "Challenges of Electrostatic Discharge Protection in Si Nanowire Technology." Dr. Magyari-Kope's talk was entitled "Ab initio simulation techniques and applications of density functional theory to study interface and defect induced properties in transition metal oxides and their implications for electronic devices." After the lectures, many participants asked questions, leading to energetic exchanges of views with the lecturers.
