World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction public forum held
The Japan Society of Applied Physics Spring Meeting was held from March 11 to 14.
On March 16, the Institute of Fluid Science, International Research Institute of Disaster Science, and IBM Japan co-sponsored the World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction public forum "Resilience Workshop: Technologies and Their Social Implementation to Actualize Lithe Disaster Prevention/Mitigation." On the Institute of Fluid Science side, Professor Samukawa assumed the position of the chair of the organizing committee and Associate Professor Kubota participated in planning as the coordinator. This event drew over 100 participants and was a great success. The workshop was popular, and the activities of the Institute of Fluid Science and the Innovative Energy Research Center received sufficient publicity. Significant discussion was also held on returning to the starting point of human beings as the final decision-makers at the scene of a disaster, no matter how advanced science and technology has become.
