Professor Samukawa stays at National Chiao Tung University as visiting professor for one month. Industry-government-academia in Taiwan begins!
Professor Samukawa stayed for a month at National Chiao Tung University as a visiting professor from September 3. He is commencing international joint research on advanced semiconductor devices in earnest with five professors of National Chiao Tung University; Dr. Lee, fellow of National Nano Device Laboratories of Taiwan; and Professor Lee of National Cheng Kung University. In the midst of harsh conditions faced by the Japanese semiconductor industry, Professor Samukawa was invited as a visiting professor by National Chiao Tung University, which is playing a central role in Taiwan. Taiwan is becoming the No. 1 competitor in the global semiconductor industry, and is presenting itself as model of industry-government-academia collaboration. A base of activity with National Chiao Tung University will begin this fiscal year. To substantively mobilize this collaboration, Professor Samukawa stayed for a month in Taiwan. At the same time, he also explored partnerships with world-leading Taiwanese semiconductor makers and equipment makers through the mediation of National Chiao Tung University, and created conditions that make the promotion of major collaborations in the future possible. Taiwan is the most important country for the global expansion of Japan's semiconductor technologies. It is highly anticipated that creating this base of activity will contribute to the global expansion of Samukawa Lab's technologies. This is a new challenge.
