Professor Samukawa gives keynote talk at IIT 2016 (21st International Conference on Ion Implantation Technology) held at National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, Taiwan! (September 30, 2016)

Professor Seiji Samukawa gave the keynote lecture as the first speaker in the morning of September 30 during the 21st International Conference on Ion Implantation Technology (IIT2016), held at National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, Taiwan, from September 25 to 30.

IIT is well-known as a conference regarding ion implantation technology. It is an international conference internationally recognized for its history of discussing achievements related to all aspects of ion beams. On September 26, Professor Chenming Hu of the University of California, Berkeley, a 2016 National Medal of Technology and Innovation laureate, gave the kick-off keynote address, entitled "Will semiconductor scaling end? What then?" At the conference, Professor Samukawa gave a keynote lecture on the necessity and applications of neutral beam technology. The talk received a great number of questions, and discussions on nano devices were also carried out, demonstrating the level of awareness of neutral beam technology in the field of ion beams.

TSMC' s newest factory is also located in Tainan, so there were many contacts from production equipment and device manufacturers. The brisk state of activities in Taiwan' s semiconductor industry could be felt.
