Professor Samukawa gives invited address at 30th anniversary ICSICT 2016! (October 27, 2016)
Professor Samukawa was invited to give a lecture at the 13th IEEE International Conference on Solid State and Integrated Circuit Technology (ICSICT 2016), held from October 25 to 28 in Hangzhou City in China.
In recent years, the conference has been held once every two years in China, and this year marked the 30th anniversary of the conference. The semiconductor industry has grown tremendously in China, and extremely vigorous activities are also taking place now in Taiwan. This is the result of the joining the seeds of steady semiconductor R&D activities, which chase after and seek to overtake efforts in Japan, Europe, and the U. S. This conference has played a major role in these efforts. Professor Iwai of the Tokyo Institute of Technology has long contributed from Japan. Thanks to the hard work of Professor Iwai, Professor Samukawa has been invited to this conference for many years. This year is the fourth time he has been invited. At the reception, Professor Samukawa re-encountered Professor E. Y. Chang of National Chiao Tung University and Professor Lai of Chang Gung University and renewed old friendships. Professor Samukawa felt that Chinafs semiconductor potential has already reached a level of awe, and he is considering collaborations with researchers in that country going forward. On the 28th, he visited Professor Hong-Liang Lu of Fudan University and discussed a partnership.
