Farewell party held for Assistant Professor Noda and Central Glass' Kikuchi (Sept. 15, 2017)

We held a farewell party for Assistant Professor Shuichi Noda, who will transfer to AIST at the end of September, and working adult doctoral student Akio Kikuchi, who will receive his degree and return to his company, Central Glass.

In addition, we also held a welcome party for Ms. Hiroko Onuma, the center director's secretary who newly joined in April and AIMR post-doc Dr. Firman. We also invited Prof. Tokumasu and Miyazaki University's Prof. Fukuyama and had a great time.

Noda and Dr. Kikuchi were very active in Samukawa Lab's research, such as the processing of new materials and development of new energy devices. At AIST, Noda will develop our minimal fiber neutral particle beam as a further evolution of the work he has done. Dr. Kikuchi will review the jointly developed thermoelectric elements back at his company and strive for practical application. Although we are sad for them to leave, they are departing to further develop the research they carried out at Samukawa lab, so our research connections will become even stronger. We closed the meeting with our wishes for their future development and that of Samukawa Laboratory. As usual, Prof. Tokumasu is said to have drunk sake at the afterparty until nearly midnight.
