Dr. Samukawa delivers keynote lecture at 18th International Union of Materials Research Societies-International Conference in Asia (IUMRS-ICA 2017) (Nov. 6, 2017)

At the 18th International Union of Materials Research Societies-International Conference in ASIA (IUMRS-ICA 2017) held in Taipei Nov. 6-7, Dr. Samukawa delivered the keynote lecture.

The conference was held at the convention center in the Nangang District, a subcenter of Taipei City. It is Asia's largest international conference, with more than 1,000 attendees.

Dr. Samukawa was the organizer for Symposium A1 (two-dimensional and related materials) and also gave the keynote lecture on principles of neutral particle beams and applications to graphene processing. For material researchers, it seems that the lecture on defect control technology of 2D material using a neutral particle beam, a type of top-down processing, was new and impactful. It received many questions and requests for collaborative research.

In this symposium, everything from the basics to applications of 2D materials was well covered and discussed, and we gained much information on the physics of graphene.
