On September 25, 2026, a delegation from Technische Universität Darmstadt (TU Darmstadt), Germany, led by Vice President Thomas Walther, visited Tohoku University and met with Executive Vice President Toshiya Ueki and other university representatives.

Following the meeting, the delegation toured NanoTerasu, the Advanced Institute for Materials Research (AIMR), and the Institute of Fluid Science (IFS). During the visits, they learned about Tohoku University’s cutting-edge research facilities and initiatives and engaged in lively discussions with researchers.

At IFS, Director Takehiko Sato gave an overview of the institute and its research activities. The delegation then visited the Low Turbulence Wind Tunnel Facility and exchanged views with Professor Hiroki Nagai, whose research is closely related to their fields of interest. The discussions also explored opportunities for future collaborative research.

The visit provided an opportunity to further strengthen the international research and education partnership between Tohoku University and TU Darmstadt.
