【Event Report】Special Lecture Held to Celebrate Professor Yiguang Ju’s Tohoku University International Award (Oct. 22, 2026)
On October 22, 2026, a special lecture was held at the Institute of Fluid Science (IFS), Tohoku University, to celebrate Professor Yiguang Ju’s receipt of the 2026 Tohoku University International Award (Science and Technology Award). Professor Ju is the Robert Porter Patterson Professor at Princeton University, USA, and a Distinguished Professor (Visiting Professor) at IFS.
Prof. Ju delivered a lecture entitled “Electrified Manufacturing for Energy Efficiency and Decarbonization,” highlighting innovative manufacturing technologies utilizing electrical energy and non-equilibrium plasma to contribute to a more sustainable society.
During the lecture, Prof. Ju discussed the potential of novel chemical processes enabled by electrical heating and non-equilibrium plasma, particularly in the context of the growing adoption of renewable energy and the global transition toward decarbonization. He introduced a wide range of cutting-edge research topics, including plasma generation and chemical reaction control, plasma-assisted catalytic ammonia synthesis, material manufacturing and recycling, and combustion control. These technologies offer promising pathways toward improved energy efficiency and reduced environmental impact.
Following the lecture, a tea and discussion session was held, providing an opportunity for further academic exchange with Prof. Ju.
The special lecture provided a valuable opportunity to gain insights into pioneering research in the fields of energy and environmental science and engineering.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Ju on receiving this prestigious award and wish him continued success in his research endeavors.
