Tohoku University has been participating in the Boeing Higher Education Program, a global educational program operated by The Boeing Company, USA, to develop outstanding researchers and engineers who will lead the world in the future.
As part of the Boeing Externship Program, students from Tohoku University, the University of Tokyo, Nagoya University, Kanazawa Institute of Technology, Kyushu University, Hokkaido University, Muroran Institute of Technology, Tokyo Metropolitan University, Gifu University, Chubu University, Osaka Metropolitan University, and Kurume Institute of Technology have taken lectures in English online from the lecturers from The Boeing Company and Boeing Japan.
Boeing University Externship Summer Seminar, which has been held annually as a wrap-up seminar, was held on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Sakura Hall, Tohoku University. Approximately 100 people (including 80 students) from 12 universities and Boeing Japan participated in the seminar, and each university presented the results of their student projects and engaged in lively discussions.
Before the seminar’s opening, a campus tour of Tohoku University Archives and Lu Xun Lecture Hall was conducted, where the participants enjoyed the valuable historical materials of Tohoku University.
During the lunch session, Boeing Japan provided talks on various initiatives which are led by Boeing, and all students listened attentively.
For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, the Boeing University Externship Summer Seminar was held in a full-scale face-to-face format (partially hybrid) with no limit. It was an extremely valuable opportunity for allowing students to interact with students from other universities who are also studying aerospace engineering and for the development of young researchers.
