Assistant Professor Siwei LIU (Biological Nanoscale Reactive Flow Laboratory) has been awarded the “Best Paper Award” in the 12th Asia-Pacific International Symposium on the Basics and Applications of Plasma Technology (APSPT-12) (11 December 2021).

Title: Modeling of spark channel of microsecond pulsed discharge in water
Authors: Siwei Liu, Yi Liu, Takehiko Sato
Contents:
Applying microsecond pulsed voltage on a pair of electrodes immersed in water will induce intense discharge and may form a spark channel. In this research, the dynamics of the spark channel were successfully visualized using a high-spend camera. A numerical calculation program is developed to model the spark channel. The proposed method can provide a precise prediction of the rising edge and peak value of the shock wave.
